Absolutely incredible! Their bruschetta is the best I have ever had, and I have been to Italy! Rustica pizza is amazing along with every pasta dish on the menu. I am moving out of town soon and will miss this place! So affordable as well!

We heard about From the Boot from a friend who raved about it. We have been to the Ambler location, but we love this location in Blue Bell even more! You can't beat the BYOB, small plates, mussels and entrees. We go out of our way to dine here! We would recommend this to everyone looking for a good Italian meal in a family type setting.

This place is absolutely amazing!!!! It's a little hole In the wall that driving by you would not think anything of, but let's just say the food is very comparable or I fact better to the finer restaurants! Their Garlic bread is sooo amazing!!! I'm a fan of mushrooms so therefore I order their filet mignon and it's amazing everytime! Ive been here so many times I lost count! Everything on their menu is a pleaser!

Tried from the boot based on a friends recommendation. We weren't so sure by the staff demeanor but rolled with it and were glad we did. If you want something besides fountain drinks you should bring it yourself. This is a BYOB place. So onto fresh rolls which are worth the wait for them alone. Garlic olive oil and cheese on a crunch doughy pull apart roll...this does not serve it justice. Brush eta was next a bowl came with perfectly toasted crossing and a tasty tomato mixture for you to spoon on yourself keeping it all perfect and not soggy. Pizza carne was well recieved by my husband while I got chicken siciliano with linguine instead of roasted potato. I was happy to have the pasta to soak up the tasty Madeira sauce. While the chicken did not look amazing it was tasty. I did leave wishing the mozzarella had been melted some as it was cold but the chicken was cooked perfectly. It is worth a return visit to explore their menu further. Tasty goodness.

From the Boot is so good. They provisioned me with one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten and I ended up at a FTB twice within a month. The inside of the restaurant is adorable. Love the wood burning stove and the woodpile. I've never been to Italy but I'm assuming the inside of this place is like your adorable aunt's house across the pond. The service is on point- not too annoying but not disappearing when you need them. This one is BYOB. I ended up getting a roasted veggie panini last time I was there. It was so good. The perfect amount of veggies and pesto and cheese and no excess greasy veggies. My boyfriend got a chicken cutlet something sandwich with chicken, cheese, and a really generous portion of broccoli rabe. He claims it was one of the best things he's ever eaten. Bold but maybe true. We had a delicious eggplant starter too. Lastly, From the Boot is not city priced! It's extremely well priced for the quality and portion of food you get. Get here

A group of us luxury apparel retailers get together for dinner brainstorming session in the Plymouth Meeting area twice a year, and we have gone to From the Boot the past two years. We love the BYOB factor; we all bring our favorites and share among the group. It's become a competition of sorts. Our dinner last night was the typical tasty meal. I had the mussels in white wine sauce and gnocchi marinara. The gnocchi was a little puffy though, but still with good flavor. We shared the bruschetta - mmmmmm. The service was great. As much as I love to try new places, this group will continue to return.

After reading some of the below reviews, either we went to a completely different restaurant OR the people reviewing with 5 stars don't know good, authentic Italian food. I was here about two years ago for my birthday. The food then was decent, but nothing to write home about. Because the place my boyfriend and I were going to head to was closed (shame, because THAT was good authentic Italian), we settled on here. We were seated in the "dining" room area and the hostess told us about it being Wine Wednesday, so we selected a glass and took a look over the menu. We were introduced to our server, and we were later introduced to another server. It took a while to get an order in and there was hardly anyone in the place. My boyfriend went with the baked penne and I went with the gnocchi because they don't offer a gluten free pasta option (poor in my opinion since so many people have a gluten allergy but want to still enjoy a "pasta" variety). The boyfriend's baked penne was dry and burnt and the sauce tasted out of a jar, but we were so hungry, he ate it. My gnocchi on the other hand was over cooked and mush in the mouth. I swapped it out for the lobster ravioli which was ok but the sauce had a metallic taste. While i was waiting for my new meal, the bus boy came over and tried taking my boyfriends plate (he was waiting for my food to come out to be a gentleman). It took forever to flag someone down to get him some water though. We definitely said this will be a last time.

I really enjoy coming to this restaurant. I love that they bring out garlic knots to get you started while looking over the menu... so yummy. Their baked penne, lasagna, and pizza are all delicious. The calamari was pretty good but I felt could have used a little more flavor. Portions are smaller than what you'd expect, but it fills you up. I'd rather have a smaller portion of something delicious than a big portion of mediocre food. I enjoy the atmosphere in there because it's not too loud and it's on the smaller side which I really like. It's the type of restaurant where I can finish my dinner and still sit at my table for another half hour or so just talking the night away. You can't do that at many restaurants, so it's a great place to go with friends yiu haven't seen in a while! Oh and a big plus is that it's BYOB!

After several bad experiences here, I will not be back. The first time I tried From the Boot I ordered eggplant parm from their take-out menu. The eggplant was drowning in cheese, and the side of spaghetti was bland and lacking in sauce. Gross! However, I decided to give the restaurant another try, thinking that I just caught the chefs on a bad day. The next time, I ate at the restaurant and ordered the Tortaloni Tomasso. The huge plate that my meal was served on contained FOUR tortaloni and probably 2-3 whole cups of sauce. Horrible. This was disappointing, considering the dishes that were served to other tables looked very appetizing. I would try From the Boot again, but the prices are too high to waste another meal. The only reason From the Boot doesn't receive one star is our waitress, who was very sweet and accommodating.

My wife and I stop in every few weeks for a light dinner of salad and pizza. The antipasta is good... the Caesar... not too good. Anyway, the pizza is great. Quatro fromagio, and Carne are usually our choices. The hot cheesy rolls are great too. Take your favorite Cab or beer... Better yet, go Monday night and enjoy a free Peronni (Italian beer) with your pizza! Keep that wood oven burning!

Amazing. One of the best italian places I've ever been too. Doesn't look like much driving by but If you give it a shot you will not be disappointed! Highly highly recommend!

It's definitely a hidden gem it's a little small ( the best places are ) it's around $20 a person but well worth it

Super good take out pizza! We typically get take out from the Blue Bell location and have not been disappointed. The pizza From the Boot is better than some other dedicated pizza shops in Blue Bell.

Fantastic food. Friendly service. The bread for the table is fantastic, lasagna was excellent, and most plates were clear so I think everyone enjoyed their meals. Definitely be back.

From the Boot has three locations--Ambler, Lafayette Hill, and Blue Bell. For a while, I was going to the one in Lafayette Hill, but then I discovered this location in Blue Bell and realized it's closer, and honestly, a lot roomier inside. Extra star from me. When I come to From the Boot, I'm here for three things: 1) The garlic rolls. My favorite. 2) Their arugula salad. Arugula, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, olives, and pine nuts. It might be one of my favorite salads. 3) Tiramisu. So good. Oh yeah, and their pizza and most of their entrees are great too, but really I'm good with those three things.

This place is just not good. The quality is about the same as something you could pick up at your local grocery store or pizzeria for about half the price! The only things they have going for them are their ability to accommodate large groups & that they are BYOB.

  • David B.

The food was very good, and the garlic rolls were a pleasant surprise. Between me and the two people I was with we ordered the Gnocci, Veal Parm, and the pasta special. All of us were satisfied with the food. The biggest issue we did have is that the portions were a bit small for the price we ended up paying. If the portions were a bit bigger or the price a bit smaller we would have been happier. In the end, I left satisfied with the quality on the food. The inside is nice and the service was fast, a great place for a night out.

I wish I had found out about From The Boot sooner as I went with friends for the first time last night and it was great! Several other reviewers mentioned that it just looks like a pizza place and that the space is limited -- perhaps they've expanded since those reviews were written, because I didn't find that to be the case at all. I thought it was very casual, but they had firewood stacked neatly all around and everything was done in the muted earth tones that remind you of someplace in the Mediterranean. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. They even had a cloth napkins, so it really wasn't pizzeria-esque at all. We arrived later in the evening (around 8:30) because they don't take reservations and we were hoping to not have to wait. At that point in the evening the restaurant was still filled, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Once we sat down the waitress opened our wine for us and explained the specials. Nothing on the regular menu really caught my eye beyond several of the appetizers, but the specials sounded (and were) great. Out of the six of us, five ordered specials -- more on that shortly. We started with a round of appetizers. The bruschetta was excellent. The bread was nicely toasted and came tucked around the sides of a bowl of the mixed tomato topping. It was a nice mild bruschetta and struck me as on the chunky side, which made it really good. It may actually have been the best bruschetta I've ever had. We also had the eggplant rollatini (it was saucy and well presented, but a smaller portion -- two rolls, so it was tough to share amongst six). We also got the pizza that they had on special and split that as an appetizer. The pizza had gorgonzola cheese and a gorgonzola sauce as well as filet tips and some vegetables. It was very tasty and despite two mentions of gorgonzola in the pizza's description, the gorgonzola taste was pleasantly subtle. For dinner I had the striped bass special and it was delicious. The bass was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. It was served on a bed of a very delicate, wide, ruffly pasta with a wine cream sauce. Asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes were mixed in. Before I knew it, I had cleaned my plate! It was amazing. My husband had the filet cooked rare and he was thrilled with how it came out. It was cooked perfectly to order and the glaze that came with it was enjoyable for him as well. While everything was overall great and I would definitely go back, there were a few minor problems. The water wasn't refilled regularly and as we were all out of water by the end of the meal, we had to ask for another round of waters to be brought out to us. We also shut the place down and sometime after 10, while we were already gathering our things to leave, they shut off the music and followed us out to the door, promptly locking it behind us as soon as we stepped out. I get that they wanted to leave for the evening, but I felt as if I was being locked out. It was just kind of an unpleasantly abrupt way to end the evening after we had had a really relaxed, enjoyable meal. So just those two small things -- everything else was great and I can't wait to go back.

Excellent, authentic Italian food. Food was fresh, not too hot and very, very tasty. Restrooms were clean, and the waitress was pleasant.

They said the wait was 45 minutes--it only ended up being 20 yay! Warning: parking lot is tiny and shopping center is popular! Sat down, came prepared, since it's a BYOB. Started w/ the meat/cheese platter--pretty good, but I've had better. That said, everything was fresh and sliced thin, the way I like it. Then, the bread came out. IT WAS THE BEST BREAD I'VE EVER HAD. It was this garlic, parmesan LOAF. Warm, toasty, perfection. They offered us more, and we had to say no simply because it was delicious enough to be a meal, and no one needs that much bread. I ordered the gnocchis and substituted a vodka/rosa sauce instead of the marinara that came with it. I've never seen gnocchis like these. They were like mini hotpockets--ENORMOUS for gnocchi size, but absolutely delicious--simply melted in your mouth. Sauce was creamy and delicious. My company got the eggplant parmesan and veal parmesan -- both were VERY happy with their choices, and one of them is very picky about his Italian food! We would all come back, and hopefully, eat less of the magical bread so we have room for dessert next time!

I would have given this 5 stars, but just learned that the owner is no longer willing to make the 16" take out pizzas, "because of quality assurance". We have never had any quality issues with our 16" carry out pizza. We have been doing take out from another well known Pizza Place in Blue Bell for decades and we love the option of 2 different types of pizza for take out, but no longer. So sad to hear this! It would be more than double the price now...bye bye

Excellent food, I usually get the Chicken Fiorintini entree, and the roasted red peppers, cheese and calamatta olive appetizer.... For $29 it better be delicious, and it is!

Am so upset to hear they are not making the 16 in pizza . It was so good don't understand since they have that big brink oven . If the still make small ones y can't they make large ones make no sense guess well have to find another place . Shame on u....

I love FTB in Ambler and I was really excited to find out they were coming to Blue Bell where I live! Having also lived near their Lafayette Hill location, I knew they would have a line of people waiting every night. But this location is REALLY way too small. Much too crowded for us to comfortably have dinner. I'd still drive the extra few minutes to Ambler. But this is a great location for take out. I have ordered pizza and other entrees here often since they opened. I get the garlic rolls, great entrees and don't have to wait! I was in love with the pepperoni pizza...best in Blue Bell and then they switched to a small, high-end pepperoni. I complained and they acted like I had no clue about good food. "It's a high priced premium pepperoni, sir." OK. Fine. But is very greasy, the size of a penny and as thick as two pennies, and tough to chew. Might be fine in an entrée or salad, but not on my pizza. Unfortunately, when I want pizza I generally want pepperoni and now I am back to ordering from Carmine's or Pizza Mia. Come on FTB, go back to normal pepperoni and you get five stars!

A Fav spot for BYOB in Blue Bell! The service is superb. Mediterranean menu has specials added daily. Food is delicious... My favorite is the shrimp scampi over angel hair. To die for! I've had special times with special friends here many times. Must try!!! Reservations not accepted so go early on Wednesday Friday nights.

I wanted to update my old review. From the Boot has expanded into the storefront next door and doubled their capacity. Wait times are no longer an issue and the food is still great!

Got here on a Friday night @ 5:15 and was immediately seated. My Chicken Milanese salad was very tasty and big, my son's Fettucine Alfredo was very good. The waitress seemed a little unsure of herself when talking about the menu, but she was friendly. I like the colors and the ambiance (although the lighting was a little on the dim side). It's in a shopping plaza, but their window shades do a good job of hiding that fact. Right across the street from St. Helena's, which is where we had to be afterwards...I'm glad we found good food so close by. I would say that the ambiance is romantic, but a family with two babies sat right next to us, so I think the it's more casual...fortunately the babies stayed asleep the entire time we were there. It's a small place, and I've read that they don't take reservations, so I'd be hesitant to come here on any weekend evening during regular dinner hours (after 6?). We just happened upon it on the early side and got lucky to not have to wait.

My wife and I rarely eat Italian, everything is just so mediocre, heavy, and oily at so many places. From the Boot is not one of those places. Eggplant Rollatini was light, fresh, and bursting with flavor. Wife had the crab stuffed squid special that night, soft and flavorful with no rubbery texture to be found. My veal ciaffone was also flavorful and light. On food alone I'd say four stars easily. I would almost be able to give this location a free pass on atmosphere, of which there is none, were it not for the fact that they don't take reservations. It looks like a dressed up takeout pizza shop, which I'm guessing this strip mall location was in a previous life. My biggest pet peeve by far is that the From the Boot chain won't accommodate reservations for small parties, and not at all at this particular location. It's a problem in Ambler, and it will be here too once they get established. I don't like going to a restaurant, even when there was no wait when I called an hour ago, and finding out I have to wait another hour when I get to the door. At least do call ahead seating.

Went last Sunday for the first time. We are instant fans.. Don't go for any atmosphere, go for the food. The place is small so keep that in mind. We will be back many times for sure.

my family love the food here. but have to go early to avoid the wait. it's kid friendly so we can take our toddler girls. love the garlic rolls and calamari. never had room for their home made desserts. but one of those days I will save room to try their desserts.

The food is terrific but I wish that they would take reservations. They make delightful gnocchi and the service is fantastic. Bolognese sauce is beautifully made and each time we visit everyone has been pleased.

The decor isn't particularly fancy in From The Boot but it's warm and the food is tasty. My husband and I ate here last night which was our third time at the restaurant. We like the BYOB aspect since it reduces our bill and we love the tasty food. We are always started off with complimentary garlic rolls which is a great beginning. Last night my husband chose the Chicken Florentino and I choose the Steak and Pepper pasta dish. The flavors were awesome but there were a couple things we were disappointed in. The menu states the Steak and Pepper dish has asparagus in it. While this is true, we were unimpressed that this meant that snippets (1/2" long pieces) of asparagus stems were in the dish--no spears. Additionally, the sauce in both of our dishes but especially the Steak & Pepper meal was very thin. I had already eaten my rolls so I had to ask for a spoon to finish the sauce since there was no way it would stick to the pasta. The wait staff at From The Boot was very attentive and that was nice but we wish they would slow down on trying to clear away our dirty dishes . . . . several times there was still food on the plate or we had just taken the last bite and hadn't even had time to set down the fork before someone was looking to take our dishes. This left us feeling a bit frustrated.

  • Michael B.

Food is awesome like their other locations. Way too crowded. Tables are too close together for this location and we counted 25 people that walked away in 10 mins because the wait was too long. Go early or go to Lafayette Hill or Ambler. BYOB

While I regularly ride by the strip mall where From The Boot is, I had never visited as I thought it was another 'pizza/sandwich' joint. But one Saturday, after visiting the Paperback Trader (another great place!!) next door, my friend and I decided to jump in, grab a slice and go. WELL...this place was AMAZING. Cute decor with wood burning stove, lowered lighting - just a warm, cozy feeling that wiped away our rush-rush, 'get it done' task list. We sat and chatted and ATE. We ordered from the lunch menu and had a hard time deciding. Friend had a generously sized Caesar salad and I had the pasta fagioli, which was delicious with bow tie pasta, cannelloni beans, nice little chunks of tomato...yum!! We both ordered the cheese ravioli - you could taste the freshness, tender hand made ravioli. The waitress was pleasant, attentive to refilling our drinks and checking on our satisfaction with friendly chit chat added points to the visit. One note - it's BYOB, so plan on bringing your favorite bottle of wine with you. To sum it up, to walk in expecting a re-warmed pizza slice and walking out an hour later after savoring good food with a good friend - and a bill that was under $25...awesome! Don't be fooled by the strip mall, bland visual - get yourself there soon! Oh, yeah - one more thing - as I was craving another taste of awesomeness, the family decided to show up at 5 on another Saturday and the place was PACKED. Didn't have the time to wait that day and my taste buds are still craving some Italian goodness From The Boot.

So I should start by saying the place smells delicious! The problem is the staff is rude and not very good at their job in terms of hostessing and customer service. My friend called to make our reservation and they were rude to her on the phone because they dont take reservations on weekend. Its just bad management to not do reservations for large parties, that is in everyones best interest. So I called back right before we left and asked how long the wait is for a party of 12, the woman on the phone said no wait come right over so I did. I only live 3/4 of a mile from the restraunt and I left immediately. 5 minutes later I show up and the wait is 1 hour. When I mentioned I had just called her response was "well people just trickled in after you called, and it IS Saturday". There is no way all of those people came in after my call. Then the gentleman waiting next to me said that for his party of 3 he was told 35 minute wait and that was 15 minutes ago. To recap 10 minutes before I called there was a 35 minute wait for a small party then I call and its no wait. When I show up its suddenly an hour. They had no sympathy and were honestly quite short with us when discussing the issue. The food could be great but with this type of service I dont know if I will ever know.

The rolls were good. For the price they charge for a meat sauce on a bowl of spaghetti, should be A+. Unfortunately, it is obvious they use the cheapest ground meat in their Meat/Bolognese sauce. What a pricey place for cheap food (but they charge premium prices), no ambiance, no liquor license, so-so service. Never going back.

  • L K.

I'm changing my previously high review as I just had a bad experience. Recently went and got take out. Bread tasted weird and yeasty and I ended up getting a bad headache and cough after eating because I'm allergic to high levels of yeast and mold (most breads don't bother me as long as they're baked correctly, this was not). Additionally it was supposed to be garlic bread but there was no garlic on it (I guess someone forgot?). The chicken was an odd consistency and fatty, sauce lacked flavor (penne vodka w/chicken was what I had). My mom had fettucine alfredo with chicken and had similar issues with bad chicken and sauce lacking flavor--specifically lacking the usual cheese/parmesan flavor you would expect. They used to be wonderful but in addition to the food going downhill the wait for eating in/taking out only get longer and longer and the prices aren't as good as they used to be, I believe they've gone up. I wish things would go back to the way they were about a year ago, but I don't see that happening and I'm not likely to go back again. What a shame!

My husband and I joke that we are cursed when it comes to restaurant experiences - seems we rarely enjoy them. So it was a wonderful surprise when we tried From the Boot last weekend. It is not fancy and is quite small inside, but the food was completely enjoyable. Everything tasted so fresh! And I can not say enough about how friendly and efficient the waiters were. Not a single complaint from us. We will definitely go back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
